Reverend Doctor George R. Pointer is the Pastor of The Abyssinian Baptist Church, in Philadelphia, PA. He has faithfully served as the Senior Pastor since September 1996.
He is certified in Biblical counseling from the Christian Research and Development. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Geneva College.
In March of 1996 Pastor Pointer was blessed by receiving an honorary doctorate from the Anglican Churches of India for his Mission work, Evangelism and Church planting.
Doctor Pointer conducts several workshops for the equipping of men. Pastor Pointer continues to spread the “Good News” thru out the tri-state area. At the request of other Ministers, he brings the Healing Word of God to their congregates.
God has given him a great vision for Abyssinian Baptist Church. He is dedicated in seeing that vision come to fruition. Together he and his wife have conducted several Marriage Enrichment seminars. He saw a need within the body of Christ and most recently, redefined the Marriage Enrichment Ministry here at Abyssinian.
Doctor Pointer is a 2012 graduate of Palmer Theological Seminary, with a Master of Divinity Degree. In November of 2015, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree.
Not only is he a faithful and devoted servant, he is also a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.

His life verse is John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"
